Family Life
When you encourage creativity and individuality in your children you never know where their interests will lead both them and inadvertently you!!
This past weekend we became proud owners of one heck of a long horse tail! My son who plays violin decided it would be a fun project to make a violin bow and string it with horse tail hair which is how most bows are made.
Finding a horse tail is no easy feat to begin with and then I also ended up learning a few interesting facts along the way!! Did you know that it takes an average of 180 horse tail hair per bow?
The darker hair is more coarse and most commonly used to string larger stringed instruments so generally violins are strung with blonde horse hair. The coarse, dark hair grips more making it difficult to play softer notes.
